Apple Chard Bacon Jam

Simmered red chard, smoked bacon, caramelized onion , granny smith and honeycrisp simmer to make a sticky sweet and savory jam.

Ingredients
  

  • 8 oz Bacon sliced
  • 2 Bunches Swiss Chard red, sliced
  • 1 Honey Crisp Apple cored and cubed
  • 1 Granny Smith Apple cored and cubed
  • 1 Tb Vinegar White
  • Salt
  • Black Pepper
  • 8 Cloves Garlic minced
  • 1/2 Yellow Onion minced

Method
 

  1. In a cold saute pan add in sliced bacon. Heat pan medium heat and start to brown the bacon.
  2. Once the bacon starts to brown add in the onions and fry for about 5 minutes till they turn golden brown.
  3. Add in chard, apples, start to cook everything down.
  4. Reduce the heat and slowly salt, stir and cover the mixture every 30 minutes till everything becomes super tender.
  5. After the jam is formed add in vinegar and black pepper.
