Rich and creamy thick sliced country white french toast crusted in a creamy egg-less custard toasted till golden brown.

FEATURED STANDOUTS
Thick Sliced Bread
Use your preferred bread when preparing french toast whether its sourdough, brioche or a classic country white. A thicker slice will give the custard more to soak into without falling apart.
Half and Half
Half and half is a dairy product that combines whole milk and cream. This blend creates a rich and creamy texture with a slightly sweet flavor profile. To make your own half and half thin out heavy whipping cream with whole milk.
Brown Sugar
Brown sugar once soaked into the bread has a rich caramel-like flavor and moist texture due to the molasses content. Once heated in the pan softens the caramelized sugar resulting in a rich coating over the buttery toast.
White Sugar
White sugar is pure sucrose and provides a clean, sweet taste. Adding into the custard not only helps thicken and stick the custard to the bread but it also adds a crispy sugar snap to the toast.
Corn Starch
Corn starch has virtually no flavor and is primarily used as a thickening agent. Gently whisked into the custard will seamlessly incorporate into the eggs.
TIPS & TRICKS FOR THE BEST EGG-FREE CLASSIC FRENCH TOAST
Cover all imperfections with powdered sugar
It’s really that simple. not golden enough? Powdered sugar, A little too dark for your liking? Powdered sugar. Overcooked? Powdered Sugar….and maybe some fruit.
Soaking your french toast
The key to delicious french toast is making sure the bread is thoroughly soaked. To ensure the bread soaks evenly, I prefer to use a deep baking dish with high sides. This allows me to flip the bread only once while it soaks in the custard.
What to serve with french toast
French toast is already heavy and rich. Lighten it up with Greek yogurt, fresh fruit or some lightly chiffonade of fresh basil or mint if you’re feeling fancy. Or double down on the richness and top with powdered sugar, fresh whipped cream, and butter.
How to make french toast without eggs
The eggs not only make the french toast richer but it increases the viscosity to coat onto the soaking bread. Without the thickness it can result in flat or pale toast. To mitigate that add a tablespoon of cornstarch which can increase viscosity and help browning the bread.
