WHAT’S GOING ON HERE:

Mixed Berries: For my mixed berry blend I combined cranberries, strawberries, and blueberries.  Berries are filled with antioxidants, vitamins and minerals.

Veggies: Blended veggies are great in smoothies when done right. Blend the vegetables with the fruit in the correct order to get perfectly blended smoothies.

Agave; Agave is my smoothie sweetener of choice. Use any sweetener you have on hand.

Pea Protein: Pea protein is a plant based protein powder. Each scoop has around 20grams of protein per serving. Adding protein powder is next to impossible to shake into an already blended smoothie. Blending it in the beginning is the best way to fully incorporate it into the shake.

Flax Seeds: Flax seeds add a bump of fiber. They also add a slight nuttiness to the smoothie. Blended correctly you’ll never know they are even there.

TIPS & TRICKS FOR THE BEST MIXED BERRY + MIXED GREEN PROTEIN SMOOTHIE.

layering: layering is important. it allows the vegetables to get completely blended into the smoothies with the fruit. mixed berry smoothies tend to have a bunch of seeds. its also important to blend the majority of the seeds. always have greens at the base of the blender with the water. that way it can start to form a slurry to help the mixed berries move through the blender. since the berries tend to be frozen have the plunger on hand so that you can help the smoothie blend.

blending berries: frozen berries tend to thicken and stop up the blender allow the fruit to sit in the blender at room temperature for 5-10 minutes that way you don’t have to thin it with water. if you’re using fresh berries skip this step and thicken up your smoothie with ice cubes.

frozen fruit: frozen fruit is great for smoothie for multiple reasons. frozen is fruit is picked in its peak so it taste is consist. it’s a great way to store an over abundance of fresh fruit and its an easier and more flavorful way to  thickener the smoothie instead of using ice cubes.

sweetness: mixed berries smoothies on there own are already tart. add in the vegetables and it needs a little help. a little sugar goes a long way with berries. sweeten your smoothie to personal preferences.
