FEATURED STANDOUTS
Peanut butter
The star provides a deep, nutty flavor. It offers a naturally creamy base that makes this sauce so satisfying. Choose a smooth, natural peanut butter for the best results. It blends more easily. It also offers a purer peanut taste.
Vanilla
Vanilla extract is a subtle but optional addition. It introduces a delicate warmth and enhances the overall sweetness of the sauce without making it cloying. It rounds out the flavors, adding a hint of sophistication.
Evaporated milk
The secret to achieving that wonderfully silky-smooth texture. Evaporated milk has a richer consistency than regular milk. It prevents the sauce from becoming too thick or clumpy. This ensures a luxurious mouthfeel that coats every bite.
TIPS & TRICKS FOR THE PERFECT 3 – INGREDIENT PEANUT BUTTER SAUCE
Warm milk slightly for easier blending
Before adding the evaporated milk to your peanut butter, gently warm it. This small step makes a significant difference in the blending process. It helps the peanut butter dissolve more readily. It also prevents any lumps from forming. All together in a small saucepan over low heat is all you need.
Add a pinch of salt for balance
A tiny pinch of salt might seem counterintuitive in a sweet sauce, but it’s a game-changer. Salt helps to amplify the flavors of peanut butter and vanilla. It balances the sweetness. This creates a more complex and satisfying taste profile. It’s the secret ingredient that elevates the sauce from good to extraordinary. But if peanut butter is salty enough, omit.
Works on noodles, pancakes, fruit, or grilled meats
This sauce is incredibly versatile! Don’t limit yourself to just one application.
- Noodles: Drizzle it over hot noodles for a quick and delicious take on a Thai-inspired dish. Add some cooked chicken or tofu and a sprinkle of chopped scallions for a complete meal.
- Pancakes/Waffles: Transform your breakfast by generously spooning this sauce over fluffy pancakes or crispy waffles. It’s a delightful alternative to traditional syrup.
- Fruit: Use it as a dip for sliced apples, bananas, or berries for a healthy and satisfying snack.
- Grilled meats: Surprise your taste buds by using it as a glaze or dipping sauce. Try it with grilled chicken, pork, or even shrimp. The savory and sweet combination is surprisingly delicious.

How sweet is this recipe and Can I make this sweeter?
This recipe is as sweet as the peanut butter you use. I believe the additions I’m including will provide the sweetness. I don’t want to risk the overall dishes being too sweet. If you prefer this peanut butter sauce to be sweeter, add brown sugar in tablespoon increments. You can also use white sugar or honey until you achieve your desired sweetness.
Can I just use the whole can of evaporate milk
This recipe stemmed from needing to use the rest of a leftover can of evaporated milk . I wouldn’t advise using the entire can for the thinning component since too much can result in a bitter sauce. Use water to thin out the sauce so that flavor isn’t compromised.
Are we cooking this recipe?
No, no cooking is needed. Just apply light heat to the peanut butter to mix it more evenly. When everything is at the same temperature, it’s easier to mix. The microwave can be used, but I find the stove top easier and less of a mess.
