Baked oatmeal is my go-to for a simple but flavor-filled breakfast. It’s a few ingredients toss into a bowl and popped into the oven. The only challenge can be picking out a flavor. TIPS & TRICKS FOR THE BEST BAKED APPLE CINNAMON OATMEAL
applesauce: Instead of peeling, coring, and chopping apples use applesauce. applesauce provides great moisture and is consistent. It makes a quick recipe even quicker. applesauce while help get that tart apple flavor in every bite. without the brown chunks of apple.
sweet and condensed milk: sweet and condensed milk replaces milk and sugar for my baked oatmeal recipes. it thick so it makes the oats creamier and provides the perfect amount of sweetness. adding sweet and condensed milk for stovetop oatmeal may not be ideal due to the risk of burning and tightening.
spices: i can’t imagine an instance where cinnamon and nutmeg don’t belong in oatmeal. so go heavy with the cinnamon. make sure you try the oats before you put them in the oven to bake, that’ll be your only chance to adjust the flavor.
bake time: don’t over bake your oatmeal. once the oatmeal comes out of the oven and rests it will tighten even more. the condensed milk really helps gel and hold the shape.
