Frozen Bread Dough

In this recipe, I’ve opted for frozen bread dough because I prefer the soft, fluffy texture of a cinnamon roll dough, which makes the recipe even more convenient. Pizza dough can also be used, but it will result in a crispier crust.

To prepare the dough, simply leave a loaf of frozen bread dough on the counter for a few hours to rise. This method yields perfect dough in just a few hours.

Alternatively, you can also use biscuit dough or your favorite type of premade or homemade crust for this recipe.

Butter

Butter has a rich, creamy, slightly sweet flavor. It is made from the milk fat of cows, and the flavor is influenced by the type of grass the cows eat. Butter also contains small amounts of salt, which can add to its flavor.

Cinnamon

Cinnamon offers a warm, slightly spicy flavor with hints of sweetness. It pairs exceptionally well with classic ingredients such as chocolate, butter, and sugar. The tantalizing cinnamon specks are distributed throughout the base of the crust, providing a lingering taste reminiscent of a buttery cinnamon roll. The result is a delightful combination that simply cannot be overlooked.

Marshmallows

Marshmallows taste sweet, fluffy, and slightly sticky. They are made from sugar, corn syrup, gelatin, and water, and they are often flavored with vanilla or other flavors. Marshmallows gives this dish that classic gooey stickiness that we love with a classic s’mores. Larger marshmallows have more surface area to spread making them less likely to dry out in the oven.

Chocolate Chips

Semi-sweet chocolate chips have a slightly bitter flavor, while milk chocolate chips have a sweeter, more milky flavor. Both types of chocolates compliment each other well. If you’re feeling adventurous toss on a small handful of dark chocolate as well.

Graham Crackers

Graham crackers have a sweet, slightly salty, and slightly nutty flavor. They are made from graham flour, which is a type of flour made from whole wheat that has been coarsely ground. Graham flour gives graham crackers their characteristic flavor and texture. Graham crackers are also often flavored with honey or molasses, which adds to their sweetness.

TIPS & TRICKS FOR THE BEST GOOEY S’MORES PIE

Selecting the dough

Premade pizza dough, bread dough, biscuits, and frozen pizza dough are both convenient options for making pizza at home. However, there are some key differences between the two that you should be aware of before making your choice.

Premade pizza dough

Typically made with all-purpose flour, water, yeast, salt, and oil. It is typically sold in balls or sheets, and can be found in the refrigerated section of most grocery stores. Premade pizza dough is typically ready to use, but it may need to be proofed for a few minutes before rolling out.

Using Biscuit Dough as Pizza Crust

Biscuit dough is a convenient and versatile option for making pizza crust. It’s easy to work with and can be used to create delicious, homemade pizzas. Here are some tips for using biscuit dough as pizza crust:

  1. Choose the right biscuit dough. Not all biscuit dough are created equal. Some are denser than others, and some have a higher fat content. For the best results, choose a biscuit dough that is light and fluffy.
  2. Roll out the dough. Roll out the biscuit dough into a 12-inch circle. If you don’t have a rolling pin, you can use a wine bottle or even a coffee mug. Be sure to dust the surface with flour so the dough doesn’t stick.
  3. Par bake the crust. This step is important to help the crust cook evenly. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and bake the crust for 5-7 minutes, or until it is lightly golden brown.
  4. Add your toppings. Once the crust is par baked, you can add your favorite toppings. Be sure to use a light hand with the sauce, as too much can make the crust soggy.

If you are using premade pizza dough, be sure to proof it before rolling it out. This will help to develop the gluten in the dough and create a chewier crust.

If you are using frozen pizza dough, be sure to thaw it completely before proofing it. This will help to prevent the dough from becoming tough.

When rolling out the dough, use a light touch. Pressing too hard on the dough will create a dense crust.

Be sure to preheat your oven to the correct temperature before baking the pizza. This will help to ensure that the crust is cooked through and golden brown.

Top the pizza with your favorite toppings and bake until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the crust is golden brown.

How to Stretch Dough

  1. Start with a well-rested dough. The dough should have been rising for at least 2 hours, and ideally 3-4 hours. This will make it easier to stretch.
  2. Dust your work surface with flour. This will help to prevent the dough from sticking.
  3. Gently grab the dough in the center and begin to stretch it outward. Use your fingertips to work the dough, not your palms.
  4. As you stretch the dough, rotate it clockwise. This will help to create an even circle.
  5. Continue stretching the dough until it is about 12 inches in diameter. If the dough starts to resist, let it rest for a few minutes before continuing.
  6. Use a rolling pin to finish stretching the dough. Roll the pin over the dough in a circular motion, being careful not to press too hard.
  7. Transfer the dough to a lightly greased baking sheet. Prick the dough with a fork to prevent it from bubbling up in the oven.
  8. Bake the pizza according to the recipe. Enjoy!

Tips for Stretching Pizza Dough

  • If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour to your work surface.
  • If the dough is too dry, let it rest for a few minutes before continuing.
  • Don’t be afraid to use your hands to help stretch the dough.
  • Practice makes perfect! The more you stretch pizza dough, the better you’ll get at it.

Brushing the crust

Brush the edge of the crust with cinnamon butter from edge to edge. This added layer enhances the s’mores flavor while simultaneously elevating the flavor profile of the crust.

Par Baking the crust

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F
  2. Roll out the pizza dough to a 12-inch circle.
  3. Place the dough on a lightly greased baking sheet.
  4. Poke hole with a fork edge to edge.
  5. Place the crust in the oven and bake for 8 minutes.

Serving

This pie is best served warm. Cut immediately from the oven. If you’re using jumbo marshmallows the sticky warmed marshmallows will pull like a fresh mozzarella. The gooey chocolate will stick to everything it touches. If serving to little kids give the pizza a moment to cool since sugar gets super hot.
