Lemon Pepper Seasoning

A universal homemade fresh lemon pepper blend spiced with black pepper, rosemary, garlic, and green onions. The perfect stir in seasoning for chicken wings, seafood, pasta and salads!

This is one of my favorite wet rubs! I love making wet rubs and storing them in the fridge that way when I’m cooking throughout the week I can whip it out and add flavor where I see fit. I really like to make simple blends because they aren’t too much thought. The combination of rosemary, lemon and black pepper is such a perfect pairing that I can boil noodles and serve straight from the jar. I also like to keep the recipes different to keep from burning out. So I like to add a tablespoon of the marinade to oil and spread it over fish and chicken. Or add in equal parts of butter and toss it over wings. It’s even the perfect flavor packed salad dressing. Check out my tips and tricks below for the best lemon pepper seasoning. TIPS & TRICKS FOR THE BEST LEMON PEPPER SEASONING:

the finer the darker: the finer the black pepper the darker and cloudier the seasoning. although it shouldn’t effect the taste it will change up the appearance to not look very appetizing. so try to find a course peppercorn rather than fine.

zest first: if you’re like me you totally forget to zest first and then your stuck trying zest a juiced lemon or you have an intact lemon that is now naked. this is just a friendly reminder not to do that.

let it settle: like anything the longer it sits the better it gets. although this recipe can be used straight out of the food processor. the fresh garlic can be too much for some but by the next day the lemon juice will have tamed it.

add it to oil and butters: to change up the recipe i add in different fats to change up the dish here are some of my favorite combos:

lemon pepper seasoning + olive oil: great marinade for beef, chicken and seafood
lemon pepper seasoning + butter: great baster for chicken wings and cooked meats
lemon pepper seasoning + sunflower oil: great for salad dressings

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 Lemons, zested + juiced ( about 1/2c lemon juice)
  • 8 Garlic Cloves
  • 1tsp Rosemary, fresh
  • 1TB Black Pepper, coarse
  • 1tsp Salt
  • 1Tb Garlic Powder
  • 1tsp Crushed Red Pepper
  • 2 Green Onions
  • 2TB Parsley

DIRECTIONS

  • BLEND: In the food processor add in all ingredients. And run on low to combine. The sauce should be chunky but not smooth.
  • SEASON: Adjust salt and pepper to taste.
  • SERVE: Toss the sauce over your favorite fish, pasta or chicken dishes!
