White vinegar  is the primary pickling agent, giving the onions their signature tang and preserving them. It’s the sour base of the brine. You can also sub red wine vinegar or apple cider for a sweeter pickling.

Sea Salt

Sea salt is essential for balancing the vinegar’s tartness and drawing out moisture from the onions, and red peppers contributing to the crisp texture, brine color, and flavor complexity.

Crushed red peppers adds a touch of heat and visual interest to the brine, giving the pickled onions a gentle, warm spice.

Red Peppers

Used as an aromatic and an additional visual element, they contribute a mild, sweet pepper flavor to the pickling liquid.
