Chocolate Oat Bark

This chocolate oat bark elevates a simple oat streusel into crispy, chocolate-rich clusters perfect for snacking or topping yogurt. Rich cocoa powder combined with melty chocolate chips provides deep chocolate flavor, while a whole stick of butter gives every bite an irresistible, brownie-batter taste.

Featured Standouts

Cocoa Powder

Unsweetened cocoa powder gives the bark a rich chocolate flavor without making it overly sweet. It coats every oat with deep cocoa notes and creates the dark bakery style appearance.

Ground Oats

Ground oats create the sturdy base of the bark while baking into crisp, crunchy clusters. Their mild flavor allows the chocolate to shine while providing a hearty texture.

Butter

Melted butter is the only moisture in this recipe so it serves many purposes. Butter creates a rich, deeper caramel flavor and helps bind the ingredients together into crisp clusters with a delicate crumb. It also encourages the melt in the sugar and beautiful golden edges during baking.

Sugar

White sugar gives the bark a firm, glass-like texture, while brown sugar contributes rich caramel flavor and subtle notes of molasses. Together, they deepen the chocolate profile and ensure the bark bakes up delightfully crisp.

Chocolate Chips

Chocolate chips melt throughout the mixture to create pockets of chocolate in every bite. As they cool, they harden into delicious bursts of rich chocolate flavor.

TIPS & TRICKS FOR THE BEST CHOCOLATE OAT BARK

Bake Until Crisp, Low & Slow

The bark should look dry around the edges and lightly toasted before removing it from the oven. It will continue to crisp as it cools. Do not rush the baking of the bark since increasing the temperature can burn the bark.

Make Rustic Pieces

Break the bark into a variety of sizes for a homemade bakery appearance that is perfect for snacking  or gifting.

Cool & Store Properly

Allow the bark to cool fully before breaking it apart. This is what creates the best crunchy texture. Keep the bark in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week to maintain its crisp texture.

Inclusive adaptions

For Gluten Sensitivities

Use certified gluten free oats and gluten free chocolate chips.

For Dairy Free Diets

Replace the butter with melted plant based butter and use dairy free chocolate chips.

For Reduced Hand Strength

Line the baking pan with parchment paper and break the bark into pieces while it is still slightly warm to reduce the amount of force needed.
